Harvest Number 75 – For Summer 2008

Listen to Synerdata.Net Radio: Tune In!

Harvest #75: ON-THE-AIR!  For this harvest, I was given to review all the music by all the artists who released some new electronica at C|Net’s Music.Download.com since the start of 2008, and I have over 200 hot new releases, and things, on the air.

While we are awaiting the arrival of some new infrastructure, we continue to experience the technical anomaly which results in our net access being paused for a few seconds every now and then, generally once an hour or so.  During this time, while our audience levels are lower than usual, we continue upgrading our proprietary station infrastructure, and so while there may be occasional brief disruptions in the stream, all systems are otherwise go, and programming is continuing as unusual.

You may have noticed that we are streaming artist and song title data again, along with visual artist direct home site and track download site URL’s, in addition to the regular in-track announcing for those listening via xmms, or otherwise into hearing the names of the artists while we work.  I am hoping to be given to further re-activate the listener single click artist surfing interface, for those surfing along to the artist sites while we are listening, as well as the remote mp3-j program mixing interface, where artists and other listeners can mix the programming ourselves, and the like, which systems have been down since 2005, for undisclosed reasons.

The past few years found me considerably distracted from station operations due to unrelated developments, however, since relocating the station this past spring, conditions have been ideal in which to work upon getting all the regular station sub-systems back on-line, and fluent progress is being made.  I have been doing up live sets a number of times each revolution of the planet, at which times I may disturb you with a little live speech synthesis, and the usual generic comments, for a sense of atmosphere, and program continuity.

Listen to Synerdata.Net Radio: Tune In!

Everyone Say Come: After 2 months of downtime to relocate the CTRL-ROOM, we are back ON-THE-AIR.   We are now streaming live from a remote location in the scenic wilderness of British Columbia.  The United States can be seen in the distance from here.  In streaming from our current location, there may be occasional 10 second breaks in the audio stream every hour or two, due to temporary network issues, however, the stream reliability has been deemed sufficient to resume narrowcasting.   We are now streaming at the light and efficient popular bitrate of 128k, at this time, though we do look forward to returning to the usual high fidelity 160k in the future.

We are in the process of upgrading our infrastucture and programming and things at this time, and so there may be occasional disruptions in programming, or unannounced downtime in the weeks ahead.

I had been on the air around the clock for seven orbits with hardly a day’s exception, and so the downtime of this past two months came like a much needed holiday to me, prior to this next part of history.   Everything continues to happen the way it is written, and so you better strap yourselves in, for this station is steaming on the launch pad, and is ready to rock.

Listen to Synerdata.Net Radio: Tune In!

HARVEST Number 74: The first harvest of 2008 went on the air in Mid-January. For this harvest, we have returned to C|Net’s Music.Download.com, where I had not harvested in 2007. And so I was given to review all tracks by all artists who released something new in electronica, and I downloaded the best of everything I was given to hear. This is to say that some artists are not specifically electronica artists, they only released some electronica, and I have simply downloaded everything that should be heard of all that they have produced. This is the usual format for harvesting, allowing for some programming variety, and presents a quality artist based, rather than a quality song based radio program. And so I reviewed all new releases in electronica, for 2007, at Music.Download.com, as well as all other tracks by those artists who released some electronica, and then these harvested ones have been transcorrelated into Program Number 74.0.

We initially started harvesting at Music.Download.com in early 2004, shortly after the original mp3com was destroyed, and have reviewed all new releases in Electronica at that location since then, ensuring artists are easily able to get their new releases on the air, and ideally blended into the ongoing strand(s) of transcorrelating Electronica here at Synerdata.Net Radio. In 2007, we have proceeded from harvesting almost solely at Music.Download.com, and have proceeded in touring the wider global open music industry, intending to visit a broad array of notable independent artist industry sites. When mp3com was destroyed, an attempt was made to keep the original vast community together, by providing all registered mp3com artists with a single click option to move their presentation automatically over to another IPRA site, called GarageBand.com, and large numbers of mp3com artists clicked upon that coup of convenience, and may be found there, to this day… And so it was becoming of me to visit GaragaBand.com, where I have harvested large numbers of our favorite artists whom we have not heard new music from in years now, and there is far more gold to be mined from that iceburg style OMD site.

In looking ahead to Harvest Number 75, I am presently being given to think along the lines of visiting some of the popular newer Independent Artist Release Sites, like ArtistLaunch.com, and others, but I am very open minded at this point, and have yet to discover the nature and location(s) of the next harvest.

Station Development Schedule and Pre-Launch Programming: For many years we have been harvesting the hottest new releases in Electronica, initially, at mp3com alone, where this radio program commenced. Over the years, artists in great numbers have continued to delight to freely take part in programming, and maximizing the easy fair access harvesting system to gain innovative promotional advantage from the system, expressing their own vigorously supported free speech, and opinions, and actively taking part in defining The SOUND, and after over 9 years of harvesting, our archives are now filled with over 18,000 tracks of the hottest new electronica of the 21st century, and things, with thousands and thousands of specifically contributed and specially produced promotional tracks designed to modularly blend into the gigantic and phenomenal Song of Songs, which must be heard, to be comprehended. These artists who have specifically produced songs which are for transcorrelation into Synerdata Radio’s preservation and continuity of the original mp3com independent artist community song strands, have worked very hard upon their songs, looking forward to the day that Synerdata.Net Radio launches this station, to present the most phenomenal radio programming ever, as freely and concertedly produced by the actively releasing independent artist communities on this planet, that the masses should be tuned in, and all that jazz.

This investment on the part of all contributing artists, that Synerdata Radio should follow through with worldwide mass-media coverage, as intended, we take Very Seriously, on behalf of all who have worked so hard, over so many years, to produce the incomperable radio programming which we hear today on Synerdata Radio. Over these past several years, we have been building up the station and infrastructure, and have continued harvesting and preparing all programs in advance, allowing for artists to dynamically groom the inter-artist communications, relations, and observations, in all due balance, throughout each consecutive harvest. Central to this is that Synerdata Radio has always tended to harvest in specific from a single genre at a single Independent Artist Release Site, which has allowed the other artists in the community to ensure that their contributions are harvested and blended into the big strand according to the exemplified mixing system. At this time, there is no location where releasing tracks can ensure inclusion, and so if you have produced some and would like to get them in, just drop us a line, to ensure they are reviewed (in the times ahead). I am hoping to select a new OMD site to settle into in the future, to harvest regularly from, and to release from, myself, and so I am just exploring the wider global community of popular Independent sites, back now.

Station Upgrades

Listen to Synerdata.Net Radio: Tune In!

In 2004 I was given to write some advanced features into the station software, but due to unexpected distractions and interruptions throughout 2005 and 2006, I never got around to actually implementing them, and for that time, I have largely been relaying older programs, or doing the occasional token harvest, presenting new shows in the standard, pre-2004 format. In 2007, my love has had me getting back on top of all the work which has piled up here, and while it is slow going, I am starting to get caught up now.

I have just begun implementing some of the many new features of the latest version of our software, and the difference is entirely noticable, and easily appreciable, and would be radically changing the way the station is run, and the way new programs are produced, as well as how I harvest and introduce new artists and releases. Central to the new presentation is the expansion of our artist information database, where now, it is possible to fluently embed far more information about each artist/track, upon the introduction and closing comments. Integration of this new feature is expected to be slow, but consistant, as new artists are added to The Secret Hidden Underground Electronica Archives, and as previous artists are re-featured, I am attending to the development of their database files and internal artist intelligence and extemporaneous artist endeavors, and current affairs. These new features would provide a much more fluid, and streamlined program, and extend the intent of this radio show in keeping music fans informed, while allowing everyone to get to know the artists much better. There are more new advanced features in the works, like the long belated Synerdata News Subsystem, as well as the expected return of the Remote MP3-J/Listener Mixing interface, so you can program the shows, and the clickable artist direct URL RSS feed with track titles, and some of the other advanced systems which have been down since 2005, due to the wars.

NEW SERVER: The migration to our new server has been going fairly weirdly. While it appears as though much of the English speaking audience has made the migration without issue, it seems as though many of the station’s non-english listeners are not getting the message, and some have been spending over 30 minutes listening to a repeating message on the old server, saying we have moved. I feel really bad about that, for I would hate to loose anyone. In attempt to address this, I have tried synthesizing the announcement in German, and French, and in Italian, and in Dutch, and so hopefully, that half of the audience which has not yet made the migration would get the message sooner or later.

FINAL 2007 PROGRAMMING: To close out orbit 2007 in the weeks ahead, I am expecting to be presenting a mix both old and new releases, and special surprises.   I have been doing new live mixes most each day lately, and expect to be slowly adding new artists and new releases as the current program (73.4) advances to 73.9, as well as replaying some old programs so that I may update the artist databases files and update the production for when the station launches, to ensure everything is in top form, and ready for the masses, in that part.  Many artists have been waiting almost a decade now for this station to launch, and go public, and while it has been a long wait for some, everything is almost ready, and the times are almost upon us, and it is not possible to delay them much longer than has been accomplished…

Late Fall Harvest

Listen to Synerdata.Net Radio: Tune In!

It has been a while since an update to the MP3-J Log, which I am supposed to be updating more often…

NOW PLAYING: The past 2 harvests (#72 & #73) have been different than usual. In these two harvests, instead of reviewing all the hottest new releases at any one of numerous release sites, what I did was browse through the Secret Hidden Underground Electronica Archives, and wherever I came upon the name of one of the best artists on this planet, I extensively searched for the artists and any new releases by them, specifically, using various means, and so the past two harvests on Synerdata Radio have been presenting an update on new work by some of the best artists of the 21st century who have been featured in the past on Synerdata Radio. I plan on being given to continue harvesting in this manner until I have searched out each of the best artists, right back to those lost when the former mp3com was destroyed, many of whom have appeared in these past two harvests.

I have just completed Harvest Number 73, for Late Fall 2007, or December, however, in the month ahead, I am planning on being given to continue harvesting, and literally blending from Program 73.0 into Program Number 74.0, incrementally. This is to say I am hoping to commence Harvest 74 shortly, and for this harvest, I am to return to reviewing the latest releases at Music.Download.com, where I have not been reviewing new releases for the past orbit.

NEW SERVER ALERT! - IMPORTANT – After 6 years on the same server, Synerdata Radio has MOVED to a NEW SERVER at: http://listen.synerdata.net… REGULAR LISTENERS should be sure to update their bookmarks to connect to the new server. It’s direct IP:Port address is: 209.51.162.170:9576. The old server is tentatively scheduled to be parked on the 19th of December, and prior to that time, I expect to be reducing it’s stream to a repeating message guiding those still linking to it to the new server.
